Koevoet Ngonga Shield Patch — South African Bush War (Original)

A genuine, original and extremely rare Koevoet Ngonga unit shield patch from the South African Bush War era. Printed on cream/beige raw fabric with black border and unfinished edges — a field-production piece. Features a striking dark maroon/red eagle with white chest in a landing pose at centre. Text reads "KOEVOET" at top and "NGONGA" with callsign at bottom. Not a reproduction.

Koevoet (Afrikaans for 'crowbar') was the SADF's elite counter-insurgency unit operating in South West Africa (now Namibia) during the Border War. The Ngonga sub-unit is one of the lesser-documented callsign groups, making this patch particularly scarce even within Koevoet collector circles.

Following the end of apartheid and Namibian independence, the unit was disbanded and most uniforms, insignia, and unit items were deliberately destroyed or lost. Original unit patches like this are among the rarest survivals of 20th century African military history — the units no longer exist. This is an original piece, not a replica.
